2023 Career & Leadership Development Institute Fellows

The third annual TACHE Career and Leadership Development Institute has selected 12 outstanding individuals to join the 2023 Dr. Max Castillo Cohort. This year's fellows represent 9 institutions across the state of Texas and were nominated by their peers for their diverse range of professional experiences as transformational leaders.

The third annual Career Leadership and Development Institute cohort is named after Dr. Max Castillo. During his tenure as the President of the University of Houston-Downtown, Dr. Max Castillo provided dynamic leadership for this unique, thriving, public, liberal arts university with a passion for providing access and opportunity to each generation. Dr. Castillo's higher education involvement goes way beyond TACHE. He has held several leadership positions for higher education associations, served on the board of the Intercultural Development and Research Institute Association, forged partnerships in the international arena, served on the board of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, and so much more.


The fellows have been invited to a one day leadership development institute on Wednesday, February 23rd and will be taught by an exceptional selection of CLDI faculty.

The Career Leadership and Development Institute is designed for higher education professionals (faculty, staff, and administration) in Texas who want to learn strategies and skills to advance their careers. The institute is currently accepting nominations from mid-level professionals for its 3rd Annual Cohort. The selected 2023 higher education professionals will make up TACHE's third CLDI Cohort.


Upon TACHE State Board Approval, CLDI Director Esmeralda Valdez, announced Dr. Max Castillo as the namesake for the 3rd Annual TACHE CLDI. During his tenure as the President of the University of Houston-Downtown, Dr. Max Castillo provided dynamic leadership for this unique, thriving, public, liberal arts university with a passion for providing access and opportunity to each generation. Dr. Castillo's higher education involvement goes way beyond TACHE. He has held several leadership positions for higher education associations, served on the board of the Intercultural Development and Research Institute Association, forged partnerships in the international arena, served on the board of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, and so much more.

CLDI Nominations

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Career and Leadership Development Institute (CLDI) is to expand and prepare the next generation of Latinx leaders within community colleges and universities in Texas. The institute will provide participants interactive and engaging curriculum. The one-day institute includes lectures, career coaching, applicable administrative skills, resume evaluation and review, and leadership panels to prepare participants for their next position.


TARGET AUDIENCE:

The Career and Leadership Development Institute is designed for higher educational professionals (faculty, staff, and administration) in Texas who want to learn strategies and skills to advance their careers. The institute is accepting nominations of mid-level professionals. The following individuals will be best served (preference will be given to individuals within the following positions):


-Faculty (5+ years of full-time teaching/research/service)

-Department Chairs

-Academic Deans

-Student Service Managers/Directors/Executive Directors (Admissions, Advising, Enrollment, Registration, Student Service, Etc.)

-Student Services Deans (Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Development)

-Administrative Managers/Directors/Executive Directors (Finance, Business Affairs, Human Resources, Etc.)

-Administrative Deans (Finance, Business Affairs, Human Resources, Information Technology, Etc.)

-Assistant/Associate Vice Presidents (Academic, Student Services, Administrative)

-Chief of Staff (Special Assistant to President/Chancellor)


NOMINATION & TIMELINE:

Nominations (including self-nominations) are being accepted until December 5 , 2022. Participants will be notified via email on December 19, 2022, if they are selected. The cost is $175.00 for the institute which will occur Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 8 am until 5 pm. TACHE will select up to 15 participants for the 2023 Dr. Max Castillo cohort.
