Dear Friends of TACHE,
It is my honor to serve as the 42nd president of the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE). I am also blessed to be able to work with your talented TACHE state board and chapter leaders this coming year.
During this critical time in our history, I am inspired by our TACHE founders who united at a challenging time to work together to bring about change. Today, we are the ones who must unite and work to inspire others to educate, learn, speak up, stand up, lead, and serve.
Higher education makes us stronger as a community, as a state, and as a nation. That is why TACHE will continue to strive to fulfill our mission of promoting educational and employment opportunities for Chicanos in higher education. This legislative year provides another critical opportunity for advocacy for educational issues that will impact us today and tomorrow.
I am proud to lead a group that not only has a history of advocacy, but also has a history of investing in our students by awarding over eighty thousand dollars through the TACHE Graduate Fellowship awards. Even more scholarship dollars have been awarded in individual TACHE chapters across the state to help students realize their academic dreams.
I invite you to help support this effort by donating to TACHE and becoming a member. Get involved by serving as a TACHE officer or by joining the next conference planning committee. Sign up to write letters or contact your legislators to advocate for higher education. Vote and encourage your friends and family to do the same.
I look forward to working with you this coming year with hope, unity, and action.
